October 2006: The University is now eligible to offer Federal PLUS loans for students as a result of changes in the US Federal Stafford Loan Programs

August 2006: Changes in the US Federal Stafford Loan program now require all student loans to be distributed in two dispursements.

January 2006: The American Student Government has a new web page, located at www.poznanmedicine.org

October 15th, 2005: The Dean's Office of Medical Faculty II has moved into the new Dentistry building, located at 70 Bukowska Street.

September 10th, 2005: The University has officially begun construction of a new Conference & Exhibition center, located next to the new Dentistry building.

July 2005: The University has changed the English Version of it's name from Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Sciences, to Poznan University of Medical Sciences. The Polish version of the name of the school remains the same. This change was made to ease the pronunciation of the schools name for international relations.

June 2005: The University has completed construction on a new modern building located next to Eskulap. The Dentistry School and various lectures are being held at the new building.

January 2005: The University is developing various cooperations with the University of Pennsylvannia. This involves exchange programs and elective placements.

April 2003: We are pleased to inform our friends and potential applicants that PUMS has been selected as the number one medical school in Poland because of it's prestige, quality of professors, favorable study conditions, and quality of clinical care by Rzeczpospolitej and Perspektyw. Last year PUMS was also awarded first place out of the 10 medical schools in Poland.

January 2003: The 4 Year M.D. graduating class of 2003 consists of thirty six students. The 2002-2003 School Year currently has 111 students in the 4-year M.D. Program.

The  number of students in the 6-year M.D. Program is growing every year and presently there are 121 students in attendance in the 2002-2003 Academic Year.

As of February 2000, the 5 Year DDS Program in English is being offered to overseas high school graduates.

The 1998 graduating class from Poznan was a very successful group with approx. 75% having passed the first part of the US medical licensing exam and 100% pass rate on the second part of the US medical licensing exam. Graduating students from the school in Poznan had performed elective clinical rotations in 30 different hospitals in 6 different states.

Three of the original students in the class of 1997, which started in September 1993, have transferred with advance standing to Medical Schools in Louisiana, West Virginia, and New York.

The Dean of Medical Faculty II has obtained a suite of study rooms for the exclusive use of the students in the Medical Program taught in English which is being equipped with basic reference material and other study aids (computers connected to internet, printers, a copy machine, etc.) The suite of rooms is located on the first floor of Collegium Anatomicum Building.
